Everywhere you go these days you'll hear something about gas prices. Whether it's a conversation between friends talking about how high they are or a news story about how people are being affected. The fact is that all of us are being affected in one way or another. How have you been affected?

I'm sure that all of us could find alternative means of transportation if we absolutely had to. And it would seem that a lot of people have had to. Here are some of the alternatives that people are using to get around these days.

Mass Transit

Here in Utah it seems that the number of people that are using mass transit is at an all-time high. In fact, the new commuter rail that opened up has surpassed all expectations for the number of riders.

In some cities this is a common thing anyway. For some, the idea of mass transit sounds really nice, but it is just not practical. So what else can you do?

Car Pools

I also hear of more people going to work in carpools. If you can arrange one of these, it is a great way to spread out the cost of traveling to work, school, or wherever. The only trick here is finding co-workers or fellow students that live in your same area.

Other Alternatives

Riding a bike, working from home... there are other alternatives that can also work for people. If you live close to work riding a bike is a great option. For those that can work from home, they can keep their miles to a bare minimum.

So if you are one of those people that have a hard time making one of these other alternatives work, what else can you do? Well, you could look at getting a more fuel efficient car, move closer to work, use gas additives to increase your fuel mileage, or follow other tips to increase your gas mileage. For those of us in this situation we need to do our best to get the most out of the gas that we use.

High gas prices are affecting all of us. But we can all do something to lessen this burden on our wallets. Check online for some good gas additives to help you save money on gas, and other tips that can also help you.
