Cars are wonderful inventions. Starting with the first workable model by Ford, it has become a modern convenience and status symbol that some people cannot live without.
Studded with electronics, modern science has managed to improve the car with almost all its internal systems controlled by computer. The result of which there is a noted improvement in safety, luxury and performance of the vehicle.
Or did it? Especially in the performance category? Read on.
Well, some people seem to say its current configuration does more harm than good. Let's take a look in particular the Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system.
What is the EFI?
The EFI is the part of the car that controls fuel mix. It is the system that above all regulates the mix of air and fuel inside the car's internal combustion engine. Both diesel and gasoline variants have EFI systems.
The EFI's computer is preset by the manufacturer to regulate an optimal mix of air and fuel to maximize the power of the vehicle. This is termed its "stochiometric". The usual stochiometric for gasoline engines is 14.7:1. This means it needs to maintain a mix of 14.7 parts air and 1 part fuel for the car to perform optimally.
However, this may or may not be the ideal mix. It is only a ratio programmed into the EFI by the manufacturer.
What if performance improves?
What happens when a performance improvement product is attached to the vehicle that did make an improvement?
Say we installed a Hydrogen Generator onto the engine. A hydrogen generator is a device that uses a stable medium like water and converts it to hydrogen and oxygen. Once introduced into the combustion chamber, even small amounts of hydrogen act like a super fuel, it mixes with gasoline and makes it burn VERY efficiently. And that changes the conditions in the engine, albeit for even better performance!
Introduction of hydrogen will give the following effects to the engine: reduce knocking, make the engine more quiet, reduce emissions to the exhaust, use less gasoline for work, lower the engine temperature, increase power, and save gas.
With this, you can now effectively have a stochiometric from 50:1 to upwards even 100:1.
What happens in these circumstances is that the 14.7:1 ratio becomes invalid but doesn't have the flexibility to change. The EFI is programmed by the manufacturer to maintain 14.7:1 and that's what it will do unquestionably even the disadvantage of you, the owner.
How do we fix this?
Fortunately, it is now a simple process to overcome this obstacle and gain even more mileage without the interference of the EFI's old programming.
There are several simple 3rd party electronics you can purchase or build yourself to attach to the EFI wiring to change the EFI's stochiometric. This will dramatically show a marked improvement to your vehicle's performance and save gas.
What about safety?
Dozens of enthusiasts and engineers attest to the safety of hydrogen supplementation. The hydrogen generator creates hydrogen only on demand, so there is no free hydrogen gas stored in the device when the engine is turned off. It is as safe as water.
