Freedom lights up the city of Philadelphia and as I walk the streets of my hometown, I am reminded of what our ancestors did to create an atmosphere of freedom in our country.
The Declaration of Independence was planned, discussed, and signed here in Independence Hall. The Liberty Bell rests quietly across the street and within walking distance is the home of Betsy Ross, the maker of America's first flag. Cobble stone remnants remain where scholar and inventor Benjamin Franklin once walked and lived. His grave is a reminder of the great power and influence one man can have over his own life, a community, and a nation.
There is a Freedom Trail in Philadelphia that traces treads of history that woven together creates the fabric of the history of our freedom. The Freedom Trail is available to over 1.5 million Americans who live here in Philadelphia, yet there are many people who have never walked this trail.
It is true of life itself. We want to have freedom and yet we cannot seem to hold it. It certainly is available to us in many ways, unlike other nations of this world. As Americans, we are fortunate to enjoy the rights of freedom.
How do we measure freedom? At what costs do we trade it away?
Here are 7 steps to get you back on the trail of freedom in your life:
1. Set goals. Prioritize them. Look at them daily. Visualize the end having achieved the goal.
2. Make a daily list of six things to get you to your goal and prioritize them. Focus on getting them done and do not let anything distract you.
3. Have mentors and follow their advice closely.
4. Learn to listen and communicate effectively.
5.Budget and save your money. Consult with a financial advisor on your financial portfolio.
6. Read daily to stimulate your mind. Study the masters who have been successful.
7. Hug, laugh, and do the Snoopy dance daily. Celebrate your achievements.
What trail are you walking? Is the price of freedom worth keeping it? Decide what you are trading your life for in exchange for your freedom and start today to move towards it. What you are seeking is seeking you. Keep positive and move forward towards the goal.
Create the flag of your freedom and weave its colors with passion. Let freedom ring in your body, mind, and spirit. Walk your freedom trail with head held high and enthusiasm.
Freedom can become a cornerstone in your life. Declare your independence, electrify and illuminate your freedom trail and hold the spirit of liberty in the palm of your hand and never let go.
