Everyone possesses the faculty of clairvoyance, to a greater or lesser degree. With some people the psychic ability comes naturally and may first be experienced in childhood. With others, the faculty may need to be developed by training and this may take several years. People with a developed faculty of clairvoyance simply have an additional sense of perception. It has nothing to do with our moral, ethical or religious teaching, any more than our eyesight depends on whether we are Catholic, Hindu, or Christian.

THREE INTERNAL SENSES

There are three internal senses associated with psychic perception, clairvoyance, clairaudience and clairsentience.

The first level is visual perception, or the old term, clairvoyance meaning clear-vision. If you are a person with a highly developed faculty to visualise clear pictures in your mind, some of the hard work in developing your clair-vision is reduced. You perceive images with the internal eye rather like a picture on a blank screen. We all have this ability and use it continually, for example when you are going to redecorate a room you see the finished colour scheme and soft furnishings in your mind's eye before you start. This power to project mental images is highly developed within the clairvoyant, as if the image is outside one's head. This ability is also strongly developed in many artists.
The mental images float into the mind without the clairvoyant formulating them through thought. You just see a very clear picture.

The second level of consciousness is the clairaudience of clear-hearing. Here you are developing your ability to perceive through sounds and words. On occasion I have noticed that when I have a picture that I do not understand, I recall the picture to gain more information and words come to me instead. This is when I know I have shifted from one level of perception that is seeing, to the perception of hearing.

The third level of consciousness is the clairsentience or clear-sensing. Again this is apparent in all of us and we use it daily. We access this part of ourselves when we sense things about people we meet for the first time, or when we walk into a room and sense a weird atmosphere. This is highly developed in the clairvoyant and is used to give information on a person's personality, emotions and attitudes. It is perceiving through feelings.

Let's remember, tradition maintains that there is but one psychic sense of perception. These three levels of consciousness are modifications of the one basic psychic perception. Each of these levels of consciousness are therefore within all of us. We just choose to develop them or not.
