Ridesharing involves commuters using carpools or vanpools to get back and forth to their destination. Ridesharing saves time by vehicles having enough passengers so that commuters can legally travel in designated high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes in those metropolitan areas with such lanes. Ridesharing also gives riders time to catch up on sleep, work, relaxation, or reading during their daily commutes.
