When the Sony Ericsson W890i was released, it had the tall job of exceeding the capabilities of its predecessor, the W880i. The W880i was a Walkman phone with a great deal of desirability and actually made it into a highly coveted place on Stuff's 2007 Cool List. The W890i contains the same gossamer frame but includes some additional multimedia features as well. It includes a 3.2 megapixel snapper and plays the latest music with the latest technology Walkman player.

The keypad on the Sony Ericsson W890i is much better designed than previous models making it more traditional and easy on the thumbs. Compared to some other keypad arrangements that made it difficult for those with fat fingers to handle, this model has the perfect size and layout for the average user. The keypad may appear cramped at first glance, but it is actually very easy to use.

Another great feature of the Sony Ericsson W890i is the third generation Walkman music player. It also includes an intuitive multimedia menu that was originally part of the W910i. The audio performance of the W890i is exceptional and includes Mega Bass. It also includes Media Manager software that works with your multimedia system and ensures functionality of your music and CD ripping. For the music lover, any Sony Ericsson W890i review will show you how excellent the Walkman technology on this phone really is.

One of the disadvantages of the Sony Ericsson W890i is the headphones. The in-ear phones are adequate, but the phone still uses adapters for the 3.5mm headphones. Even though the phone is only 10mm in size, the Nokia 5310 is just as slim and is able to handle the connection for the headphones. This is perhaps something SE should look into correcting so that the SE W890i is competitive with other similar models in this respect. It includes a 2GB Memory Stick Micro which can accommodate about 500 MP3 tracks of average size. The phone also has the capability to handle cards up to 8GB.

In spite of the great features, it's difficult to provide a completely positive Sony Ericsson W890i review when this particular model lacks the cyber-shot capabilities of other models. In the 3.2 megapixel camera on this phone does not include auto focus, macro focus to take close up shots or any kind of flash. Its ultra trim size probably contributes to the lack of autofocus, but it does take sharp and colorful photos in areas where no flash is necessary.

Though the W890i lacks some features in a camera phone, as a music phone it stands out among the best. If you want a lightweight phone on which to play your favorite music, the W890i will certainly be a perfect fit for you. Its small size and ease of operation make it great to take anywhere you go. With the only drawback being the need for an adapter for the headphones, there is no need to hesitate to add this phone to your mobile account.
