We all have that one room in our homes where the walls are uneven and bumpy.
When company comes over we steer clear of that one room. Every time we are out
shopping we are looking through wall covering catalogs or asking the
professionals questions. We just haven't found the solution to our dilemma. That
is until today.
The solution that can beautify, easy to maintain and can be applied right over
the disastrous wall is decorative wall paneling.
Wall history dates back thousands of years ago. Walls have two main purposes.
They act as a support for a structure and to divide or enclose an area. Wall
paneling is a decorative treatment of walls which consist of thin sheets of
different materials that are framed together.
It adds charm and style and brings luxury and sophistication to your living
quarters. Decorative wall paneling is versatile, inexpensive and gives just the
right look wherever it is placed. It is welcome in every room of the house. it
can also be placed on walls below ground level. There are so many choices you
will never be at a loss for inspiration.
Decorative wall paneling is available in a variety of finishes, textures and
wood grains with distinctive groove patterns. Consumers have a choice of
plywood, fiberboard, hardboard or engineered wood. Decorative varieties come in
such styles as bead board, finished panels, wood grain, lionite, wainscot, plank
panels and project panels.
Bead board panels add visual interest and are a great selection to use as an
accent. Finished panels add richness and textures and are available in a variety
of patterns and colors. Wood grain is usually oak or cedar and is pre-finished.
Lionite is the toughest of decorative wall panels which is baked on and water
resistant and has a melamine finish. Wainscot is pre-cut with a double groove
pattern and comes in many wood grains. Plank panels are easy to install and can
be hung vertically, horizontal, and diagonal or even in a herringbone pattern.
Project panels have a dry erase surface. This is perfect for your home office,
garage or basement.
There are eco friendly panels made from bamboo pulp which is one of the world's
most reusable resources. This does not have any chemical filler or additives and
trees were not harmed in this process.
There is another wall paneling that uses decorative wrapped fabric that reduces
noise and reverberation. You can order custom made panels to meet your specific
needs.
Most wall panels are specially coated and sealed to resist moisture and water
migration that can cause mold. This decorative solution has become a maintenance
free solution for our hectic lives. Install it and enjoy it. It's just that
simple!
Whether you hang this to cover up an existing wall, disguising a not so smooth
wall or just to add a modern decorative pattern you will be amazed at the
finished product. Another perk is that modern materials have also allowed
natural light to come in while preventing harmful UV rays to damage the wall
paneling.
In today's factories, decorative wall panels are pre-cut to the correct
dimensions. This minimizes the time of labor and installation. They also have
easy to follow instructions and use many tools that you have around the house.
This project is easily completed over a weekend.
If you decide to cover your entire room or just one wall, my advice to you is
get started. Make that impressive statement that we all desire. So at your next
dinner party the entire house will be on show.
