Most newbie's squirm with discomfort when they get asked this question. Yet there are some veteran marketers who have an affiliate marketing system which is less than profitable.

In a very real sense there are good basics and bad basics. Mind you, I'm no guru but what I could share is based on what works especially according to my experience in affiliate marketing.

Step 1: Decide What Kind Of Product Or Topic You Like

We won't go and beat a dead horse but finding out what topic specifically you would be interested in is so very important. Do not just go about chasing the next big niche that promises you heaps of cash.

It does not work that way and more importantly you will end up in frustration if you chase the wrong end of the rainbow. If you like gardening then go for it and specialize only in that.

Step 2: Be A Writer And Communicator

A good affiliate marketing system has the element of a good speaker or author behind every system and website sales funnel. You have heard about this, right?

So, say someone goes to your website, downloads your free report, gets into your email sequences. What ultimately happens is a natural follow up step with basic communication between you and your prospect.

Step 3: Traffic Is Pretty Important

This is the most common question I will get when it comes down to making money with an affiliate marketing system. You see, generating traffic is not that hard.

You can do it via pay per click, traffic exchanges, press releases, solo advertising or even article marketing. The key is finding a way that interests you enough to do it consistently.

In conclusion, setting up an affiliate marketing system is pretty easy is you know how and do it systematically. What is important is in step 2 because trust is all that matters when you want someone to pay you online.
